St Mary's Lake (3:1)
In July of 2009 I rode the Amtrak from St. Paul to Glacier National Park where I met up with a friend of mine who lives near Missoula. I had an amazing 5 days of shooting in Glacier and this is one of my favorites from the trip.

Lone Tree on the Prairie (3:1)
I made this photograph up in the Red River Valley near Climax, MN. (Yes, I said it...Climax) It was one of the near white-outs during the winter in 2009. Roads were closed, school was cancelled, and no travel was being advised. I actually didn't have to go far to find some really interest subject matter

Monument Valley (2:1)
Another example of "Sweetlight". This time at Monument Valley about 10 minutes after sunset

RR tracks and Tamaracks (4:1)
This image was made just outside of Bemidji, MN. I have enjoyed these Tamarack trees along Hwy 2 for many years. This past fall the condition were very nice and I put myself in the right spot for the last light of the day.

Mississippi River and Railroad Bridge (6:1)
When crossing the river between Minneapolis and St. Paul I get to keep tabs on the changing color conditions along the mighty Mississippi. When the conditions were just right, I decided to shoot a 180 degree panorama so I could include a perspective looking both up and down river at the same time. This image is really 8 separate images stitched together.

Logan Pass self-portrait (3:1)
If you have ever had the privledge of seeing Logan Pass at Glacier National Park then you can appreciate how awestruck I was standing here. I gazed to the south at the mountain on the left side of the photo then turned the opposite direction to see the mountain on the right side of the photograph. I decied it was a perfect spot to shoot a +180 degree panorama. I chose to remain standing tall when shooting this sequence allowing my shadow to remain as part of the photograph. I can't wait to go back!

Cottonwood and Fall color (3:1)
This is a cropped portion of an image you will find in my abstracts gallery. I love the painterly feel that is produced by using slow, rythmic camera movements during the exposure. The effect is created entirely in camera. The trickiest part is moving the camera up and down only and avoiding side to side shifts.

Cottonwoods_Pano (3:1)
I shot these Cottonwood trees the same day that I made the Mississippi River Pano (see above). I hope I'm not the only one who loves this look.

Sunset #1_Pano (3:1)
This image was made during a scuba diving/vacation in Curacao. Where the hell is Curacao you say? About 40 miles off the coast of Venezuela in the caribbean.

River Rocks 1_Pano (3:1)
This is another image from Glacier National Park. It was during the miidle of a sunny day so I really didn't expect to find much to shoot until that evening. However I had noticed this stretch of river on my way up the "Going to the Sun Road" and stopped on my way back down. I'm standing about knee deep in the river shooting back towards shallower water. Amazing colors!

Mytic Pines_Pano (3:1)
Maple and Pine trucks with a smattering of fallen leaves and tan grass. I made this image last fall at Interstate State Park on the Wisconisn side.
