~Artist's Bio~

Nature Photographer Andy Hall grew up on a farm in southeastern Minnesota. He enjoyed being out in nature as a youngster and this passion and reverence for the outdoors has remained throughout his life. Andy has fond memories of viewing his father's collection of 35mm slides.

Andy started Sweetlight Photographic Images as a small business in 1995. Since then he has created an impressive collection of nature and still life images ranging in subject matter from flowers and insects to grand landscapes. Andy has won a number of awards for his nature photography both regionally and nationally. In addition to online, Andy's photography can be acquired at many Midwest art fairs during the summer. Andy also operates a commercial studio in Saint Paul where he shoots individual and family portraits, corporate, political and talent oriented headshots, and small-scale tabletop products.

~Artist Statement~

For me, photography is a language. It is a way to communicate about a place or time. It is both self-expression, and an attempt to capture the expression of what is. Photography for me is both therapeutic and liberating. When I am present and in the moment, my vision, and consequently my photographs, show reverence. What I see through my lens is not there until I allow my mind to see the perfection in the obvious and the stunning beauty of the often overlooked. My perspective is often close-up because I find great creative inspiration in the form, sensuality and “perfection” of flowers.
